Why do we keep having the same fight?
The hidden loop behind couple conflict, and how to break it
You love each other, and you keep having the same fight. It might start with the phone, the in-laws or being late. One of you gets louder and the other goes quiet. Someone leaves the room. The next morning, neither of you can say who started it, but you both remember feeling alone.
That isn’t a sign your relationship is broken. Research shows that most couple conflict is ongoing and never fully “solved.” What separates couples who stay connected from couples who drift apart is how they fight, and how they come back together afterwards.
In this 45-minute webinar, Liz Waisberg, Director of the Couples & Relationship Program at Beaches Therapy Group, draws on more than 20 years of clinical work, the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). She’ll help you see your conflict differently, as a loop you’re both caught in rather than a problem with your partner, and give you concrete tools you can use the same night.
This is not a lecture on communication tips. It’s a clear, practical look at what happens in your body and your relationship when a fight starts, and what to do about it.

What you’ll walk away with
Name your pattern. Learn the five most common conflict traps couples fall into and find the one that runs your relationship.
Understand what’s really going on. See why one partner pushes and the other pulls away. Both are attachment responses trying to protect the relationship, not character flaws.
Know when to stop talking. Recognise the signs of “flooding,” when your body takes over and productive conversation becomes impossible, and learn how to call a timeout that helps.
Start hard conversations differently. Use a simple formula to raise a complaint without it turning into an attack.
Say what’s underneath. Learn how to speak from the fear or hurt beneath the anger, and how to receive it when your partner does.
Repair after a fight. Get a four-step conversation for reconnecting and learning from it, so the same fight loses its grip.
You’ll also receive a take-home toolkit with a loop-mapping worksheet, timeout rules, scripts and a repair guide.
Who it’s for
Couples who are committed to each other but stuck in recurring conflict, whether dating, married, blended or together for decades. Come together or on your own: everything works from either seat.
This webinar is designed for couples experiencing everyday relationship distress. It isn’t suitable where there is fear, intimidation or violence in the relationship.
